March 1998Hello Creators; Last month I said this issue would focus on healing. Healing as it comes in various ways, in our hearts, our minds, and our bodies. Many times it whispers in the creative process if only we will listen and engage. Little did I know when I sent out that last newsletter, the degree to which this month what needed healing most would be our website. Healing wasn't whispering,the need for it was shouting for attention. So rather than the planned prosaic, please let me use this issue to briefly explain the problems and the state of this evolution. If you didn't encounter problems, please be patient as I try to clarify the situation for others. I will continue with the normal format next issue. I moved the Vantage Quest web site from its host provider in LA to a provider here in the San Francisco area after access to our site faltered a few months ago. The LA host also housed the "Drudge Report" which became an overnight traffic jam upon publishing the first "Intern Gate" story. Unknown to me then, our new host was simultaneously undergoing major changes while merging with a larger network. Their intention is to improve service. Unfortunately many technical problems ensued in the process. As luck would have it, most all the problems happened to our site which severely affected traffic to the site, our sales, and all our communication. This may have affected your interaction with us in several ways. First. Following the last newsletter our domain name was assigned an incorrect internet address (DNS Number) by our host. When trying to visit us, people accessed a site for an Escrow company instead of at Vantage Quest. Opps.... The escrow company was probably as confused as we were since we have no affiliation with each other. Fortunately some of you called, or wrote, to tell me you couldn't reach the site. I very much appreciate it. That problem was solved after a few days but it stopped site traffic completely and may have affected some search engine listings. Second. Late in February all email was cut off to our domain name. Anyone who filled out the order form, or the guest book received the"Thank You" message, but the data was not submitted to us. It is completely lost. This also applied to all email sent to our domain name. If you tried to write to us you may have received a "User Unknown" message. Why this happened is a mystery but as you can imagine it has been a real mess. My concern is that many people submitted orders and may now be waiting to receive them. Guest book entries were likewise affected so some entries in the drawing were never received. If you are receiving this we have your email address, but if you tried tore-enter the drawing in this period you may not have been included for this month. I am very sorry, but I simply have no way to retrieve the missing data. If you submitted an order in the past3 weeks and DID NOT receive an Email confirmation from me please contact me again. If you happen to know someone else to whom this applies, please pass along this message. I believe all the problems are fixed now so hopefully we can set back to normal operation. I am looking forward to creating new site content rather than continually having to heal and repair new "web wounds." In that regard, there is one new article up on the site. I hope to have a few more in the next couple of weeks. I hope you find them useful. I again invite you authors with compatible material to submit article for inclusion in
"Thoughts Beneath The Trees". While there is no pay, there is a lot of traffic

I repeat, I want to build a community of creative folks, not make "email enemies."
